MPSC stands for Maharashtra Public Service Commission. Formed by the Constitution of India, MPSC is a body that selects candidates for civil service jobs in the State of Maharashtra. Every year, the Government of Maharashtra conducts MPSC exam through which it selects eligible candidates for jobs under its various departments like Administration, Police, Forest and Engineering.
Annually, MPSC conducts about 15 examinations for Class I,II and III officiers in various government services.

This exam is conducted for recruitment of sales tax inspector and assistant in Maharashtra sales tax department.

MPSC Syllabus
Syllabus for Preliminary Exam: - The preliminary exam consists of four papers i.e. General Knowledge, General English, General Marathi and General Studies.
Candidates who pass the prelim exam qualify for the main exam. In main exam, there will be six papers; two languages papers (English & Marathi) and four papers in General Studies. The four papers are given below:-
•History & Geography (with reference to Maharashtra)
•Indian Constitution & Politics
•Human Resource Development and Human Rights
•Economy & Planning, Economics of Development & Agriculture and Science & Technology Development
MPSC Syllabus 2020
There will be two languages papers of 100 marks each and the structure of the papers will of descriptive type. The remaining four papers will have multiple choice questions, 150 marks each. For two incorrect answers, 1 mark will get deducted.
