Osmania University directs Osmania University Ph.D. Eligibility Test for admission to Ph.D. programmes in faculties of Arts, Social Sciences, Commerce, Management, Education, Law, Science, Oriental Languages, Engineering, Pharmacy and Informatics. The basic objective of this test is to assess the aptitude of aspirants wishing to apply for Phd in Osmania University. Ph.D. aspirants with post graduate qualification from a recognized university are eligible to apply for this assesment. UGC- NET / CSIR - NET / ICMR/ ICAR / DBT- JRF/ INSPIRE fellowship and Teacher Fellowship aspirants are exempt from appearing for this entrance test that is conducted for Ph.D. Admission at Osmania university.
Eligibility for Osmania University Ph.D Eligibility Test 2018:-
To be eligible to appear for Ph.D. Eligibility Test - 2018 being conducted by Osmania University in the subjects pertaining to faculties mentioned above, a candidate must have obtained a Post Graduate degree from a recognized university or a Post-Graduate degree through distance mode from a recognized university and approved by the concerned authority, in the concerned subject or in an allied subject approved by Osmania University securing not less than 55% marks (50% marks in case of SC/ST candidates). If the results of Post Graduate Degree are declared in the form of Grades/Credits/Cumulative Grade Points Average in their marks cards/Transcripts, such Grades/Points shall be converted into percentage of marks to assess the minimum eligibility criteria.
Note: The candidates have to appear in the Ph.D. Eligibility Test in the subject in which they wish to pursue Ph.D. (For eg. A candidate with M.Com. qualification may pursue Ph.D. in Business Management provided he/she appears and qualifies in the Ph.D. Eligibility Test in the subject of Business Management).
However, the following categories of the candidates are exempted from appearing in the Ph.D. Eligibility test.
1. Those who are awarded research fellowship in a national level test namely UGC-NET / CSIRNET/ ICMR / ICAR / DBT-JRF / INSPIRE fellowship and Teacher Fellowship applicants subject to the clearance by the Dean, CDC, OU.
2. Those who are qualified UGC-NET / CSIR-NET / APSET / JEST / GATE / GPAT examinations.
3. Those who hold M. Phil. Degree in regular mode from O.U. in the concerned subject or Ph. D. in an allied subject approved by Osmania University.

The prescribed application form along with the Ph.D. Rules and Regulations can be downloaded from the University website www.osmania.ac.in.
Filled in application along with all the required enclosures and a Demand Draft for Rs.250/- towards registration fee drawn in favour of the Dean of the concerned faculty, OU payable at Hyderabad should be submitted on all working days in the Office of the concerned Dean, between 11.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. on or before 02.12.2017. No application will be entertained after the last date.

Paper Pattern
Osmania University Ph.D. Eligibility Test 2018 Paper pattern:-
The eligibility test will be of 90 minutes duration and question paper consists of 100 objective (multiple choice only) type questions
The eligibility test will consist of any 3 or 4 varieties of objective type items such as analogies, classification, matching, comprehension of a research study / experiment / theoretical point of view, etc., with multiple answers besides the usual multiple choice items. The items will be framed only from the syllabus of eligibility test.
Maximum marks for eligibility test: 100 marks
Nature of test: Objective type with multiple choice questions.
Medium of eligibility test: The medium of eligibility test will be English only except for language subjects.
Minimum Qualification Marks:-
The minimum marks for qualifying the Ph.D. Eligibility Test shall be 50% in case of Open category candidates, 45% in case of B. C. candidates and 40% in case of SC/ST category candidates. Students belonging to Physically Challenged category are allowed a relaxation of 5% marks in each category.
